Situated just outside Howden on the A614 towards Holme Upon Spalding Moor, Howden Equestrian Centre is a British Horse Society Highly Commended riding school dedicated to providing a quality learning experience. We are also proud to be a Association of British Riding Schools accredited centre (ABRS+).

 

Our location is easily accessible from most areas of Yorkshire, we are a few miles away from M62 Junction 37. Our customers regularly travel from Goole, Selby, Pocklington, York and Hull. 

We stand apart from other riding schools by offering more bespoke private and small group lessons with fully qualified instructors. 

This allows our award winning, experienced and BHS-qualified instructors to concentrate on your individual development and create truly well-rounded riders. 
 

Our passion and commitment extends to animal welfare & education, where horse welfare will always be a top priority for our team. Our horses wellbeing is at the centre  of everything we do at HEC. We believe that for a horse to be a great teacher, they must be first, happy, healthy and respected.  We follow a holistic approach to welfare, meaning we look at the whole horse - their physical health, mental health and emotional well being our top priority. 
 

Our principles are reinforced by being BHS & ABRS approved, fully insured and also licenced with East Riding of Yorkshire Council license (Number AA3243511). 

We take our commitment to quality seriously. Howden Community Stables is proud to be BHS Approved, voluntarily opting into rigorous annual inspections to ensure we meet a "gold standard" of care. We consistently achieve a Highly Commended status from the BHS and a 5-Star rating from the ERYC. Backed by over 80 years of combined coaching experience and led by our head instructor Janice - BHS Level 4 Senior Coach, BHSAI (ITT) & BHS Accredited Coach, our team comprises of qualified BHS or ABRS professionals. All our staff regularly attend continuous development training (CPD) above and beyond what is required, with one of our team winning a BHS award for their commitment to education and welfare, we don't believe in standing still!
